"Over the course of almost a year prior (to filming this footage), a number of items (Mr Thomas) and his family had placed on Mrs Watson's grave would mysteriously disappear," Det Sgt Flynn testified before Townsville coroner David Glasgow yesterday.
"I observed a sports utility vehicle pull up adjacent to (her) grave, and a male identified as Gabe Watson walk over to the grave, kneel down at the flowers placed there, and examine the card on the flowers (which were marked `With love' from Tina's parents).
"He returned to his vehicle, retrieved a set of heavy duty boltcutters, and over the next few minutes, broke the chain lock securing those flowers onto the grave.
"I observed him walk back, throw the flowers onto the street, and he departed."
However, Mr Watson denied any knowledge of such activity in his sworn deposition to US lawyer Eric B. Langley as part of his insurance claim for mental anguish and punitive damages, believed to be in excess of $75,000, against insurance companies Old Republic Insurance Company and Travelex, and travel agency Getaway. http://www.townsvillebulletin.com.au/article/2008/01/25/10097_news.html
